Building Psychological Resilience in the Public Health Workforce


OVERVIEW
Description:
This training provides an introduction to psychological resilience in the public health workforce before, during, and after an emergency event. This training will go over identification of common causes of stress reactions, how to provide basic psychological support services, and how to identify individuals at higher risk for stress reactions.


Length: Approximately 1 hour


Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify common causes of stress reactions in public health workers during a disaster.
  2. Be able to provide support to friends, family, co-workers and neighbors in the wake of disasters and other emergencies.
  3. Identify common reactions to disasters.
  4. Be able to identify individuals at higher risk for stress reactions.

  • Communications specialists
  • Nurses (public health nurse)
  • Rural public health professionals
  • State or local public health workers
  • Trainers
